Peak Pilates Comprehensive Certification

Course Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of human anatomy and kinesiology, 20 hours of training and current CPR/ AED and First Aid certifications are recommended.

Course Overview: The Level I course is comprised of alternating online modules and live sessions. The online work is mandatory and is not repeated during the live sessions, these assignments will take approximately 10 hours per week. The focus of the online work is to provide theoretical underpinning of essential material while the live sessions focus on building practical skills.

Module 1: The Foundation (16 hours) introduces students to the Powerhouse Anatomy and Posture, Key Concepts, Pilates Principles and fundamentals, and the introductory order on mat, reformer, Cadillac, and wall. The instructor is introduced to teaching with the Peak Pilates 5-Part Formula for Success. The instructor will leave ready to begin practice teaching a full Introductory Session.

Module 2: Adding On (16 hours) The mat, reformer and Cadillac repertoires are expanded to include more Beginning and Intermediate exercises. Work on the barrels and chairs are introduced as well as Power Circle Endings. Touch Techniques are expanded upon and Movement Patterns are focused on to aide in developing the instructors eye and ability to correct movement.

Module 3: Expanding Teaching Skills (16 hours) More exercises for Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel, Cadillac and Chair are taught. Teaching concepts include expand to working with the Body Scan, teaching with focus, and working with chronic lower back pain of an unspecific nature. Group Teaching Skills are honed as well as more development of full session teaching.

Module 4: Review and Assessment (16 hours) Day 1 is focused on polishing and readying for assessment and Group Mat Teaching is assessed. Day 2 assessments include Exercise Technique, Group Reformer Teaching, and Full Session Teaching . In order to be eligible for assessment all online assignments must be completed in addition to 120 logged hours. A Peak Pilates Level I Instructor Certification is awarded upon successful completion.

Course Overview: Successful completion of Level I requirements, 100 logged hours and current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications recommended.

Module 1: Intermediate Level Mat, Reformer, Cadillac (20 hours) Students learn additional intermediate level exercises, refine transitions, and how to monitor static and transitional body alignment.

Module 2: Intermediate Chair and Barrels (20 hours) Module 2 continues progressing through intermediate Pilates exercises and builds upon the skills learned in Level I.

Module 3: Level II Comprehensive Assessment includes a Full Session Technique Assessment, Group Tower Teaching Assessment and Exercise Technique Assessment. A Peak Pilates^® Level II Certification is awarded to instructors who pass all of these Level II assessments and complete 60 logged hours.

Course Overview: Successful completion of Levels I and II requirements and current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications recommended.

Module 1: Advanced Level Mat, Reformer, Cadillac (20 hours) This module completes the lessons on advanced level mat, reformer and cadillac exercises, teaching transitions and techniques.

Module 2: Advanced Level Chair, Barrels, Auxiliary Equipment (20 hours) This module completes advanced level exercises with auxiliary equipment and jump board. Students also review case studies, which illustrate the application and value of a classical Pilates program.

Module 3: Final Comprehensive Assessment (6 hours) This one-day assessment comprises the final Comprehensive Certification assessments including written and practical assessments. A Peak Pilates^® Full Comprehensive Certification is awarded to instructors who pass all Level III assessments and complete 60 logged hours.
